A program similar to the former Invest in Kids Act might come back to Illinois. The program could come from the new Republican spending package signed by the President Trump. The program gave a tax credit to people who donated to private school scholarships. States have the option to participate in the Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA). The program allows up to $1,700 in donations to private school scholarships as tax write-offs. The program is set to start in 2027 and could help provide underprivileged students a quality education. There are 35 states that already opted into the ECCA.
