Community Arts Center receives grant from Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield

Williamsport, Pa. — The Journey Bank Community Arts Center is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a $2,500 grant from Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, which will be used to support the 2026-27 Educational Series. "Highmark proudly supports the Community Arts Center's vital work. Their arts programming enriches thousands of Northcentral Pennsylvania students annually, integrating theater arts with core subject areas like Children's Literature, American History, STEAM, and Literary Theater. This impactful initiative aligns with our commitment to educational excellence and community well-being,” said Katie Kemmerer, community affairs regional manager, NEPA, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. Each year since 2007, the Educational Series has been offered for free to area students from nine school districts in Lycoming and Sullivan counties. The programs bring live performances and interactive learning experiences to 5,000 to 8,000 students annually. “Our educational, student-centered programs reach our youngest and most diverse population, and we are proud of that,” said Ana Gonzalez-White, CAC director of development and community relations. “This donation plays a vital role in enriching their lives and allows us to continue to offer more vibrant programs.” Funding for the educational programs is derived from various sources, including Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) funds, individual donations, corporate sponsorships, and grants.
