A recent ceremony at a Kittanning-area private school marked the latest effort by the Bridge Educational Foundation to funnel Educational Improvement Tax Credit funding to non-public schools in west-central Pennsylvania.
As shared by state Rep. Brian Smith, R-Punxsutawney, in his weekly email newsletter to constituents, BEF made an $81,000 presentation at Grace Christian School in West Kittanning, Armstrong County.
The funding came with support from Marcus and Mack of Indiana, Malady and Wooten of Harrisburg, RBC Capital Markets and Waste Management.
“These funds will benefit students and families in Armstrong, Indiana and Jefferson counties,” Smith said in his newsletter. “The EITC program opens doors for low- to moderate-income families by helping them access the educational environment that best fits their child. Through the generosity of participating businesses, scholarship organizations are able to provide resources that directly support student success.”
Smith said those joining him in Kittanning included state Senate Majority Leader Joe Pittman, R-Indiana, and state Rep. Abby Major, R-Leechburg.
Also on hand were some students, as well as officials of Grace Christian School, St. Bernard School in White Township, and the Greensburg Roman Catholic Diocese.
